Changes to B.C. Shelter Aid for Elderly Residents Program

The British Columbia government recently announced changes to the eligibility criteria for the B.C. Shelter Aid for Elderly Residents Program. I wrote about the program for low income seniors who rent here. The provincial government is removing the ten-year Canadian residency requirment, and a senior who meets the other criteria will be eligible if her or she has lived in British Columbia for at least one year. The government is also increasing the heating allowance by $10 per month. You can read the government press release here.
