Proposed Reform of the Society Act

The British Columbia Law Institute has published a Consultation Paper for Proposals for a New Society Act. You can read it here.

The British Columbia Society Act governs not-for-profit organizations that are incorporated under the Society Act in B.C. The proposed reforms are intended to modernize the legislation and harmonize it with British Columbia's legislation governing commercial companies, namely the Business Corporations Act.

If you would like to make any submissions on the proposals, you can download the Response Booklet from here.
