Old City Hall, Toronto, Ontario
Old City Hall is now a courthouse, a seat of the Provincial Court of Ontario. It is the courthouse where I first appeared on behalf of a client, when I was a law student in Toronto in the 1980s. My client plead guilty to possession of an extremely small quantity of marijuana. I spoke to sentence, and halfway through my submissions, the Provincial Court Judge interrupted me, asked Crown Counsel if my client had a criminal record, and when advised that my client did not, the Judge granted my client an absolute discharge. I have not handled a criminal matter since; so I have a pretty good track record in criminal cases.
I found an interesting web page on Old City Hall here.
